I am currently reading Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. This is the first book on The Southern Vampire Mysteries the lead of which is the popular character Sookie Stackhouse. The Southern Vampire Mysteries is the saga where the HBO hit series True Blood is based on.

I am lacking sleep because I work late nights until early morning. By 6AM, I should have been sleeping already. But because of this book, sleep is now moved an hour or two. I am hooked! It is riveting and the story is clear cut. The characters are unassuming and you can actually relate to them minus the vampires. The raw sexuality of Sookie and the lead vampire, Bill Compton, is electrifying! I can’t wait for more!

I am almost through with the book. I am intrigue with Sam Merlotte, Sookie’s boss who owns the bar where she works as a waitress. I am fascinated with Sookies telepathic ability and the silence of Bill’s and Sam’s minds to her.

So far, noticeably in the words above, I am satisfied with the way the story is unfolding. Hopefully, the 8 books after this one will be more, if not better, than this one.
