Intensity by Dean Koontz is the first Koontz book I have read. I got the idea to read the book from a Philstar.com Sunday Lifestyle column recommendations. I got the ebook version and read it in two days, in between tons of pending tasks.
If you are busy with something, please do not read this book. It is by far one of the books I have read that is unputdownable! Chyna Shepherd and Laura Templeton are best friends. Chyna decided to go with Laura to their Napa Valley home for a long weekend. What was supposed to be a fun and relaxing weekend turned out to be a nightmare for Chyna.
Edgler Forman Vess, a self-proclaimed homicidal adventurer, entered the house of the Templetons intent on killing everyone in it. Fortunately for Chyna, she was able to escape. Laura was taken by Vess and Chyna saw it. Thinking that her best friend was still alive, she followed Vess and walked into his trap. What ensued is a horror that the reader will share with Chyna.
I tell you, you can’t put this book down. You will be surprised at the identity of Vess which you will only find out at the final chapter of the book. The book is entitled Intensity because of Vess… He believes that life is all about accruing sensation, and that he must live with intensity in order to discover new sensations. I like how Chyna scares him. I like how there was actually no reason for Vess killing except that he got a taste for it since childhood. This is different from other stories where there is a very deep reason on how the villain became a serial killer.
I am recommending this book to fans of suspense/thriller reads.
I am giving Intensity 5 out of 5 stars.
