Two reasons…

Girl Reading

There are two motives for reading a book; one, that you enjoy it; the other, that you can boast about it [on social networking sites and Goodreads!]. — Bertrand Russell

Happy Tuesday everyone! Enjoy reading!

Extended holidays

I’ve decided to keep using the template I have for a few more weeks. Possibly until the end of January. I actually like the Christmas-y feel of the template and I enjoy seeing the snowman in the header ;)

Now, by February, I think I will use a Valentine theme. Or get a new template possibly. I am not feeling the old template anymore so that won’t be making an appearance in the near future.

What do you think?

New Year, more books!!!

2012

2011 has ended. I didn’t get to read too many books the past year but I’ve read some pretty good ones, I must say. 2012 has a lot of promise in store so I am keeping my fingers crossed and actually planning for more books this new year!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Stay safe and keep warm wherever you are!

;)

More actual book reviews coming up!

The title says it all. All those book reviews I promised that I wasn’t able to post will be posted in the coming days. Sorry for the delay. I don’t write reviews when I don’t feel like it to avoid being biased and all. But I realized that the reviews are piling up so I went to Goodreads and marked the books I have to review for you.

So expect more to pop up in this blog in the next couple of days.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Go for gold in 2012!

My friend’s daughter’s goal for 2012 is to go for gold! Take home more trophies than the ones she brought home this year. She is an athlete competing in triathlon events nationwide. She is quite good and it’s sad that she had to suffer from an injury in the middle of this year which sidelined her for a while. But now that she’s back in 100% shape, she plans to train more and learn more on how to be more careful with her legs but at the same time still maximizing her potential.

I told my friend to not worry about her kid unnecessarily. She can take care of herself and she has proven it time and again. Plus she has a wonderful coach who really supports not only her but all the athletes coming from their school.

Wishing her all the best!

Mini collection

My uncle has this collection of moebius models. He loves cars. In fact he has quite a number in his enlarged garage. And he also has a lot of the mini ones in his bedroom. It is a collection and a manifestation of the engineer in him, most likely. He is a mechanical engineer. Obviously, he is into mechanisms and an auto’s mechanism has fascinated him since he was a young boy.

Now that he can afford to get into his passion even more, he is really saving enough to buy the cars that he wants, both big and small.

The realities of a bibliophile ;-)

bibliophile

The truth is that for us bookworms/bibliophiles, the best kind of conversations are those centered around our favorite fictional characters. We talk about them like they are real people. Actually, some of us really believe they are real, only living in a different dimension hehe

There were so many books my friends, sisters and I have read in the past that evoked so much emotions in us we felt like we lost a love one when we were done reading it. I cried over so many characters I’ve ‘lost’ while reading a really good novel. I’ve felt every kind of emotion for the characters I’ve grown to love.

Ah, the realities of a bibliophile like me!

Book as travel companion

Book as Travel Companion

One of the things that you will see inside my bag when I go out of the house is a book. Currently I am reading The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson. I took the book with me when I went to HongKong last week. I knew that there would be instances when we would wait somewhere and instead of being annoyed with the waste of minutes, I thought I’d bring a book with me so as to make the waiting time useful.

And so I did.

While waiting for the airport shuttle to arrive, I managed to read a few pages of the book. But since I miss my friend from Chicago a lot, I was able to read again only inside the hotel room before going to sleep.

A book is a really good travel companion. Do you bring one with you when you travel?
