The Bookworm Confessions

Big plans

I have big plans for 2012. I plan to slowly have the whole house renovated. I will start with the kitchen and dining room. I want something new in there. I want the glass tabletop of the dining table out. I think I am all for a rustic dining table and rustic furniture. I just want a change inside the house.

I believe that a positive change can bring in luck and more blessings. My sisters and I talked about white walls and a minimalist overall theme at home. I really want less clutter at home and I am grateful my siblings and I are on the same page.

Crunch time

It’s crunch time for Christmas shoppers. Almost every mall and shopping center in the city are filled with shoppers who are doing double time to buy everything on their list. In these times I am thankful for online shopping. I can shop online and save myself the stress of being elbow to elbow with other shoppers. I can even use coupons that I found and my friends recommended to me.

My brother wants an xbox. It’s a good thing that there are gamestop coupons that my friend told me about. I can use it when purchasing one and even the games itself. No need to get stressed over the traffic jams and jampacked malls. I can shop online and get a discount in the process.

MM: If I Die Young

When I first heard this song, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The song tells us that when someone passes away, people pay more attention to them. I also liked the part that tells us if we lead a full life, dying is not as scary anymore.

If I Die Young by The Band Perry has become one of my all-time favorite songs now.

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song…

A penny for my thoughts, oh no, I’ll sell ‘em for a dollar
They’re worth so much more after I’m a goner
And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singing
Funny, when you’re dead how people start listening…

The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep ‘em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you’re really gonna need them, oh

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I’ve had just enough time
So put on your best, boys
And I’ll wear my pearls.

Planning while washing the dishes

The best time to plan a book is while you’re doing the dishes.
- Agatha Christie

Actually the best time to do some thinking is when your hands are busy doing something. Washing the dishes is the best time for me. Others also do their thinking/planning when doing the laundry or when dusting surfaces at home. When the hands are busy the mind is working double time. That’s what I like to believe.

No wonder Agatha Christie said that the best time to plan a book is while doing the dishes. She might have done that ih her time.

Attention-seeking author

Tabitha Suzuma should get off Facebook and get a life!

I really don’t want to write this because Tabitha is a favorite author of mine. I’ve read Forbidden and I just knew that she’s one author who can totally capture the mind and heart of the reader. That is the main reason why I became a follower in Facebook and Twitter. I wanted to get to know the author more and I am awaiting a new book from her.

But these past two to three weeks she had nothing better to say but that she’s depressed or she’s about to pass out from lack of sleep or that she’s in the hospital because of pneumonia (and all because she abused herself by being on Facebook too much I believe!) and all the attention seeking updates she’s posted. I just wanted to tell her that all she has to do is to get off Facebook, sleep for at least 8 hours, talk to ‘real’ people and not virtual ones only, and just basically get a life! If she does that I am sure she won’t be ranting about getting depressed every three minutes or so.

While reading a spooky novel

Tommy and his friends had a very hilarious experience when they went on a road trip a couple of weeks ago. They were in the middle of nowhere going to a town they hadn’t been to and hadn’t heard of until that day when their RV suddenly broke down. The road was really dark and there was no house they could see in the distance. They were so spooked because Tommy was reading a spooky novel and was telling his friends about it.

They were thinking of bolting and running to the direction they came from when Tommy remembered that he got a breakdown service with the RV before they went on the trip! He called up the people behind the service and were on their way to the town they’d be stopping by in no time at all.

They were laughing so hard when they remembered it the morning after.

Character party

Angela is going to a character party and she is in search of sexy wigs. She will be going as a sexy vampire and she wants to wear a flaming red sexy wig for that. Can you blame the woman when she wants to play a vamp?

I do think women are becoming more and more aware of their own sexuality. They are not so afraid anymore of being sexy whereas in the past women hide it. These days it’s all about showing what you got in a classy way. The vamp will be a very common character in the party but Angela is not bothered by it because she knows with her flaming red sexy wig, she will surely stand out!
