Special Order: Devilish

Devilish

Yes! Fully Booked sent me a text message a couple of hours ago telling me that the book I placed on special order, Devilish by Maureen Johnson, is already available for pick up! Yey!!!

As you very well know, not all books are available in this country. We only have three big book stores here: National Book Store, Fully Booked, and Powerbooks. If the three do not have it, chances are you won’t find it anywhere else. That’s why I am thankful for Fully Booked’s special order offer. You can place a special order on a book you can’t find and wait for them to send you a message that they have it already. There are no charges for placing a special order. But once they sent you a message that you can already pick the book up, they can only hold the book for three days before they release it to others.

I’ll pick Devilish tomorrow. Can’t wait to read it!

3-day Fully Booked sale!

Tomorrow is the start of a big 3-day payday weekend sale in my favorite bookstore Fully Booked The Block North Edsa branch. Discounts on books will be as much as 20%! I would like to go and buy books but I don’t know if my budget will allow it.

Anyway, I really want to buy the complete set of The Chronicles of Narnia, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and Alyson Noel’s Immortals series. Let’s see if I can sneak in a little book shopping tomorrow or this weekend.

Books… Yihee! ♥

Piles of to-read books

pile-of-books

I’ve been adding books after books in my pile of to-read. In the past, I would wait to finish one book before I buy a new one I’d like to read but these days I just buy books I am interested in reading as soon as I hit the bookstores. I’ve learned my lesson already. The good ones are off the shelves fast and the bookstores here take time ordering a new batch. They’d check first if there are persons still wanting to buy one or they would just discontinue selling a copy.

I’ve been looking for Maureen Johnson books and you know what I found out? The books had been on sale for a long time and are now totally out of stock! Huhuhu! I had to ask Fully Booked to order it for me abroad and up to now it hasn’t arrived yet.

So as soon as a new good book comes out and I have the money to spare, I hit the bookstores and buy a copy right away.

Printed word on my hands

Nothing beats holding an actual book in your hands. I can get electronic copies of the books I like. But I still buy either the hardbound or paperback copies of it. I just love seeing the printed word on my hands.

That’s mainly the reason why I bought so many books at the National Bookstore last Wednesday. They have an ongoing sale right now and it’s about to end on Sunday. It’s just too bad that most of the books I was looking for was already out of stock. I was too late in shopping for my books.

I usually buy my books now at Fully Booked. They have all the books I like. Plus they have more young adult books than any other bookstore in the country. You can have a copy of a book reserved without any fees. I like that a lot about them. And when you are looking for any book, a friendly staff will approach you to ask if you need assistance. Since there’s a big sale at National Bookstore, I bought some of my books from them.

I love seeing books lined up for me to read and again. I wish I have a big book shelf so I can display my books at home.

Current Read: Diary of a Wimpy Vampire

Diary of a Wimpy Vampire

I am currently reading Diary of a Wimpy Vampire by Tim Collins. I thought this is the same author who wrote the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. But it’s not. I got curious with the book because it says that the wimpy vampire, Nigel Mullet, is everything that Edward Cullen (of the Twilight Saga) is not. Nigel is forever stuck in the awkward age of 15. He’s close to being 100 years old and still hasn’t gotten himself a girlfriend.

After reading half of Willow, I needed a funny book to get off the heavy feeling in my chest. When I read the book teaser, I immediately went to Fully Booked and bought myself a copy.

I’ll let you know how the book goes. I’m half-way through already.
